Questions about ordering
Your satisfaction is our goal. Due to the handmade nature of our business, all sales are final with limited exceptions.
Custom work is not eligible for refund or exchange. Custom work includes items with names/initials engraved on the piece, or items outside our catalog made to your specific requirements.
Refunds are accepted on a case-by-case basis but may incur a 25% restocking fee, excluding the cost of shipping. Items must be returned within 30 calendar days of purchase to be eligible for refund to the original payment method (less applicable fees). Refund will be issued upon receipt of return.
To initiate a return, please email us at alexa@foamywader.com with your order number and reason for return.
We are unable to offer free return shipping on eligible item(s) returned. You are responsible for the return shipping fee at the carrier’s rate. Once the return is received and approved, the refund will be processed to your original form of payment.
Exchanges are welcome within 90 calendar days of purchase. Exchanges for holiday gifts are welcome without a receipt until March 31st each year.
In the event that an item is damaged in transit, the item must be returned for repair. Exchange or credit toward a higher priced item is allowed if damage is irreparable.
We incorporate local sales tax into our pricing, but there's no way around this surcharge. Any applicable international taxes and duties due must paid by the recipient upon receipt.
We do our utmost to ship every order as quickly as possible. Orders are handmade in the sequence they are placed. Average turnaround for fabrication and fulfillment is 1-7 business days prior to shipping. Lead time can increase to 7-14 business days during peak holiday seasons.
If your order is urgent, please feel free to contact us to verify your order will arrive by your deadline.
We use tracking on all shipped packages since these things happen. If the package is scanned as delivered, but not actually received by you then we will re-ship once at a 50% discount.
If a parcel is lost in transit, we will re-ship once at no cost to you.
In the event that an item is damaged in transit, the item must be returned for repair. Exchange or credit toward a higher priced item is allowed if damage is irreparable.

Questions about quality, care, and sizing
Our jewelry is made to be delicate while still durable enough for daily wear. Store in a jewelry box to avoid tarnishing between uses. Avoid contact with harsh chemicals such as synthetic perfumes, chlorine and detergents. Dry your piece thoroughly when it gets wet.
To clean, soak jewelry in warm water with mild dish soap and gently scrub with a towel or soft bristled brush. Nickel-free jewelry is safe for use with Silver polish or mild tarnish removing solutions (we occasionally use Tarn-X in our studio).
We engage in sustainable business practices by primarily using recycled precious metals. We work in demi-fine metals of .925 Sterling Silver, yellow Gold Fill and Rose Gold Fill. Our fine collection includes 14K Yellow Gold, 14K Rose Gold, and 14K White Gold.
All metals we use are Nickel-Free, with the exception of 14K White Gold chain and found objects. Found objects incorporated into our jewelry that contain unknown metals are always clearly noted on item descriptions.
A helpful and affordable tool to find your ring size is a Ring Sizer
To determine the size of a ring you own, simply measure the diameter in millimeters and find the corresponding size in our ring size chart (also an easy method for a boyfriend or partner to covertly collect your ring size!)
Here's a simple trick to determine your ring size using a few household items:
- Take a piece of dental floss and wrap it around the spot on your finger where you'd like to wear your ring, overlapping the floss (can also use string or paper instead)
- Use scissors to cut the floss off your finger
- Measure the cut piece against a ruler taking the measurement in millimeters
- Find your size from the ring circumference in our international ring size conversion chart
To help determine the best length options for our jewelry based on your clothing size, we've created this jewelry sizing chart (including international dress sizes and conversion to US sizes)
Our recommendations cover bracelet size, ideal length for a pendant necklace and ring-finger and midi ring sizes. For pairing layering necklaces together, we suggest the chains be 2" longer than the shorter layer.
Sizing suggestions are guidelines based on average measurements. Our bodies are all different, so it is always best practice to collect your unique measurements for a perfect fit. A piece of dental floss or string are simple tools to measure your perfect length.
The short answer: Gold content
The longer answer: not only are their manufacturing processes different, but the percent of gold alloy used on Gold Filled pieces is much higher than plated. The image below is a great example of the difference between metals
Gold Fill metal is a layer of 14K Gold with a core of jeweler's Brass or Copper. Gold Filled jewelry has 100x more gold alloy than plated. Because that layer is so much thicker, it means Gold Filled jewelry lasts longer and stands up to wear and tear much better than plating.
If a piece is well cared for, Gold Filled jewelry can last for years. That being said, 14K Gold is a wise investment for heirloom jewelry and for pieces that will be worn daily (particularly rings as they experience the most impact when worn)
The precious metals we work in react differently.
Sterling Silver does tarnish gradually over time due to the small percent of Copper in the alloy. Avoid tarnishing between uses by storing pieces in a jewelry box or in ziplock bags. Avoid contact with harsh chemicals such as synthetic perfumes, chlorine and detergents (including sulphurous hot springs). Dry your piece thoroughly when it gets wet.
Gold Fill/Rose Gold Fill doesn't tarnish, but it can look less lustrous after sitting for some time. Same best practices apply - avoid tarnishing between uses by storing pieces in a jewelry box or in ziplock bags. Avoid contact with harsh chemicals such as synthetic perfumes, chlorine and detergents (including sulphurous hot springs). Dry your piece thoroughly when it gets wet.
14K Gold doesn't tarnish. If your 14K is looking dull, it likely needs a bath and a quick polish ro remove oils or buildup.
We offer lifetime repairs on each Foamy Wader piece we create. We only ask that you cover the cost of returning the item to our studio. Please contact us to address any needed repair.
